Sample size planner
Choose how precise you want your AI visibility rate to be, and see how many answers it takes.
Runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to Notable.
How it works
- Halving the margin takes about four times the answers.
- Rates near 50% need the most answers; rates near 0% or 100% need fewer.
- Notable never shows a rate from fewer than 30 answers, so the planner never suggests fewer.
The background
Answers, not questions
The sample is every answer you collect: each question, in each wording, from each assistant, on each day. Ten questions in three wordings across four assistants is 120 answers a day, so a few hundred answers come quickly.
Choosing a margin
±5 points is precise enough to compare yourself with a competitor or track a trend month to month. ±10 points will tell you whether you are visible at all. Tighter than ±3 points needs over a thousand answers, and is rarely worth it.
Why the planner never goes below 30
Below about 30 answers the interval itself becomes unreliable, so Notable shows “insufficient data” instead of a rate. The planner follows the same rule.
Want these numbers for your brand, every day?
Notable asks AI assistants your customers' questions daily and shows how often you are recommended, with the margin of error beside every number.
